My Favourite Fish
My Favourite Fish
I'm lucky to live in a part of the world where we have an abundance of Fish Species and many different kinds of Coarse Fishing.
But Perch are my favourite type of Coarse fish, it might have been a small Perch that took the worm at Connaught Waters all those years ago, that set me on the path of a lifetimes fishing pleasure ?
To be honest, it's such a long time ago, I can't remember.
I think it's something to do with the aggressive nature of the Perch, that does it for me, the flaring of the gills and that upright spiked dorsal fin as they crest the surface.
As if to say, " How Dare You" I'm in charge of this enviroment.

Re: My Favourite Fish
Some lovely pictures there Bob. My first ever fish was a perch some forty odd years ago and since then I have always had a soft spot for them.

Re: My Favourite Fish
Lovely fish. You certainly know how to show them for a good picture Bob. :thumb: .
Re: My Favourite Fish
Some real stunners there Bob, it is one fish that i really wish to catch a larger specimen off.
Re: My Favourite Fish
Thankyou.
All the above Perch were from the Lea or the Stort !!
I had set myself a target of catching a 4lb+ Perch from the Lea Valley and to be honest it took me years to achive this target.
The Top Picture was a 3lb 141/2ozs Perch from Rye House Stretch of the Naivigation, the Next was a Perch of 3lbs 15ozs from the old West Ham Stretch of the Navigation and the last was from a Pit next to the Stort Navigation.
The Perch went between 4lbs 1ozs and 4lbs 2ozs, so I called it 4lbs 1ozs, it was caught just after the freeze up in January 2010 from the only clear patch of water I could find, where a small weir comes of off the Stort Navigation and into the pit.
