I have a Dorset - and mine looks nothing like yours Jeremy - what a lovely looking restore.

That looks stunning... the dark maroon with the light cane is a lovely contrast
Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

Re: A refurbished Dorset
Thanks for all your kind comments chaps and thanks to Penninelad for introducing me to Dorsets!
They really are a great rod and a credit to the maker, FT Williams. The cane is very good indeed as Penninelad has pointed out and I believe hollow built so they handle well and feel crisp and steely.
I personally think they let themselves down with the aesthetics though, coloured handle furniture and a fussy whipping style may have set them apart from other makers but perhaps to their detriment? I actually prefer a more understated look myself.
Maybe their thinking was to give their cane a more contemporary look?
In any event well worth having and renovating should you come across one.
