Good job! It's important not to varnish these long rods too heavily, especially the tip and middle, and the fact that the varnish follows the bulge of the whippings (rather than burying them in a glassy layer) indicates you've got it right.

Vole, I had a waggle of it last night and the curve feels sublime. Now I don't know whether to sell it and pay for another restoration with the money or to keep it for my Roach rod.
