THE Book
Re: THE Book
I have ordered my copy. We will have to get CY to do his book signing at the Trout in Lechlade instead. He really should have checked our diary first :chuckle:

Re: THE Book
Anyone in attendance at the book signing event last night care to report how it went? Was unable to attend ![](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f622.svg)

I only have a dreadful quality picture from my mobile phone
but pending arrival of something better quality ....

My first trip to Brick Lane (buzzing!) and my first book launch.
I enjoyed Chris's chat and readings and he took a few questions at the end
then chatted with those getting books signed.

It seemed well attended - we filled the space available standing room only.
Started the book on the train to work this morning and had to stop myself
at the end of chapter 9 because it was being devoured too quickly!
I then stopped to read chapter 10 before going into the office and was suddenly
aware that I was surrounded by zillions of people rushing around on their
way to work in the City and there was I sitting on a bench reading
about nightingales!

Lovely stuff dgc! His analogy and literary prose is enchanting once you start reading. I am glad you enjoyed the evening, and managed to get up for work despite an late evening. Thanks for the report. :hat:

Probably just me...
...but I'm not enjoying it as much as his others. I miss the fishing aspect very much: without it I feel that its very Deakin-esque but without being quite as good (a tall ask anyway). Its why I love BB's fishing books more than his others - fishing is my core interest I suppose and I like the nature part of things to be the back-drop to that. Or maybe I'm just in a little bit of a reading shift - I have these intermittently: I recently read 36 of Wodehouse's books back-to-back and then suddenly, mid-book, found that I needed a change.
That all being said I am so going to take my kids out on a night walk this summer!
