Almost the perfect common carp yesterday improved upon today

Post by Julian »

In my journal post yesterday -'Milll Pool Magic' I posted a few photos of a common carp I caught yesterday that I considered to be almost the perfect common carp in appearance - it weighed just under 9.5lbs.
So, what can be better than that - well possibly a carp almost identical in appearance but larger :D

Today I went back to the pool and by an uncanny conincidence I caught another common carp that is almost identical in appearance and a third larger in size at just over 12lbs :D :D :D :sun:

I also caught two other double figure carp today - full journal details to be posted soon.

Unfortunately it will probably have to wait until next spring as I will be otherwise occupied for the next week and a half and by then I think summer carping will have ended for this year as the weather is definitely turning autumnal. But I know there are much larger commons in there - and some of them will be very similar in appearance - I just have to catch them.

Incidently I just loved the colours of this carp. The photo just about captures the colours correctly.
The top of its back is almost totally black, then coming down the sides it starts of a dark bronze, turning golden bronze, then metal gold, then a yellow/ochre on the belly.
Both the tail and the mouth are huge for the overall size of the carp.

Long, lean, dark commons with huge paddles! Angling paradise!
Well done Julian and thanks for sharing!

I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.
