12' Sealey Supreme Threads

Post by Galician »

Hi,
I'm just about to start restoring an old Sealey Supreme and would appreciate any help in finding out what BLUE thread was used.
I have started using Pipers silks and looking at their colour charts French Navy and Royal could be candidates, but it is very difficult to compare with the tatty thread left on the rod.
Thanks
Galician

Probably the best way to see the original colour is to cut off one of the rings so you get a nice big section of whipping that you can look at the underside and see the true colour. :Hat:

I restored a Supreme last year, but I a blue/white twist in place of the original thread. The Royal Blue is the closest match of the two pipers silks you've mentioned.

I also restored a Supreme last year but used Mettler brand thread (Poly Sheen No. 40, colour 3620) which looked like a good match with the original.

Here's a link to the restoration thread viewtopic.php?f=50&t=19850 :Hat:

If your silk looks like this now:

It once looked like this:

Fish Hawk Neon Blue is really, really close to this...if you can find any.

You can find Pacific Bay Blue No.638 though and that's pretty close too
