The Kirndale

I thought I would blog about this model as I haven't seen a reference to it anywhere else.

I was trying to decide which rod to have rebuilt next and as I have acquired and used more and more different rods I've gained a bit more of a feel for what is a good rod or a not so good rod. Inevitably.

I went back to this rod this morning and gave it a waggle and came to the conclusion that its quite special.

Two piece with separate handle
11ft hollow built
very light, beautifully balanced
very straight
all through action but with a real feel of power to it

The agate butt and tips are very good, the rest need replacing.
The I think the rings have been re whipped at some point but the intermediates are starting to unravel in places.

I think this is the next rod to get the full treatment.

Does anybody else know anything about this rod?

Not one I've seen before, but between the "Avondale" 10ft 6in and the "Severndale" 12ft 'match' rods.

I'm sure it will make a lovely rod, Sir (and I wish I'd spotted it first !!!). Can't find a River Kirn though.

No nor can I Mal, it could be a lesser known stream or tributary, or just made up.
