If any of you have the time (around 45mins) you can hear me prattle on about the development of carp as a sporting species in this country along with the deeds of Richard Walker, Bob Richards, ‘BB’, etc who kick started the worldwide phenomena of fishing for carp that we know of today. (Try not to nod off!)

Great stuff Chris.
One thing though, when I stood on the dam wall at Redmire being prepared to see a small pool after hearing as you said everyone thinks it is so small, I was amazed how big it looked and stated "it's bigger than I thought it would be".

Re: Audio ramblings on the birth of fishing for carp
Thanks Chris, I have now listened to it. A few good extra bits of interesting details that I didn't know.
I can understand how back in the 70's or maybe early 80's anglers going to Redmire for the first time would usually be surprised by how small it appeared, but I cannot understand how any anglers since then can be surprised by the size, as its been common knowledge for decades now that its a little under 3 acres.
After all if you know a pool is around 3 acres before you see it I can hardly imagine why when you actually arrive at it you would comment on 'how small it looks'.
