I often wondered what the "W" meant on the Hardy reel fitting. Why did Hardy patent it, maybe they bought the rights from Emil Weeger ?
And did the Gazzette buy the rights to patent the float from Herr Weeger. He must have had some payment for his inventions.

Just to confuse things, Robert Bright had sons called Edward and Robert as well. And his great-grandson is forum member Grinner - also called Robert.
