As a criminal law solicitor I can recognise whole families of "clients" in there
I remember the sirens sounding from one or other of the hospitals back in the 70s when out fishing & visited the zoo many times.

Would like to think that it's "respected" as an SSSI but prepared to be disappointed if I ever go back.
Still .... My first proper rod (Daiwa 12' glass) ; Match 520 fixed spool (it must be somewhere in the garage) ; bored bullet leger, no. 14 hook & 3 red maggots; swing tip (still got that too) & that tench will be fooled again .
Perhaps I'll think about it a bit more...

I grew up in Epsom & Ewell - @ 1967 til 1988.
Sadly, you are right about the general atmosphere these days (mother still lives in Ashtead)
