Re: Chapman Amwell, £20....
From what I can see, the difference between the Amwell and the Amwell SP is, the SP has no intermediates and has no button on the end of the butt, just a full Cork handle.
If there is any other difference I would be happy to hear of it.
Thanks

Re: Chapman Amwell, £20....
Mine just says The Amwell. It has no intermediates and no shadows from any in the past but it has an alloy butt cap and rubber button.
Maybe a customer request or the butt cap and button have been added at a later date.

I noticed an Amwell on that auction site today. No real change out of £200 being asked, including delivery, and it's pretty tatty to my eye. It hasn't got intermediate tyings btw

The SP also has black reel bands or at least I think it does, at this point I'm starting to question everything I know.BoltonBullfinch wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 1:18 pm From what I can see, the difference between the Amwell and the Amwell SP is, the SP has no intermediates and has no button on the end of the butt, just a full Cork handle.

Re: Chapman Amwell, £20....
A quick look at the above 1962 Chapman advert shows they were willing to make changes at the customers request. As did all the better rod makers of the time.

The SP for sale has green(ish) whippings and black reel bands.
