I'm frankly amazed at the research talent on this forum! When I saw the original request I confess I quietly said 'fat chance' to myself. Wrong, Nobby.
Not only has the lock maker been tracked down but we have a drawing of their factory from an advert SO similar to an Allcock's one...and they were the forerunner of Yale locks too!
140 years on..........wow!

What a lovely looking thing that is Steve. A fantastic find and what a joy it would be to use on a lovely summers day along with a greenheart rod and wooden centrepin.
Looking forward to seeing it in use..
Wal.

Cheers Wal, it will be at Redditch if you fancy a gander?
John, it will be sitting beside me on the bankside by month's end
John, it will be sitting beside me on the bankside by month's end
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.
