Made a hub system like the Mordex Merlin and it is possible to use this spool release system if the other option fails

Made a wooden back plate with some veneer inlay, not sure this will be the final design but it is not bad looking i think
The withe color will be black when done and cover it up with epoxy to get a nice shine on it

Evert, I love your work and this is a fantastic project.
For me though the veneer isn't the way to go. Let the natural beauty of the wood shine through my friend.

I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Re: New project a home made centrepin 4''
It is not a easy way to do a back plate and some off you will not like it that much but it is a test for me how far i can go with making stuff like this as well. the most difficult job has to be done and yet and that is setting the pillars in the spool without any wobble, every pillar must have the same lenght if not it will show on the end, no room for errors on this work. attaching the pin to the wooden plate is also a tricky job but i still have good hope it will end up the way i have in mind
the pillars will be made out of two tubes from alloy and brass, alloy i use to make the rivet and the brass tube for keeping the distance between the two rings. pictures will follow.
here is a other picture from the back plate with the black particles placed and must be finished with a layer epoxy
