Unidentified Milwards Fly Rod

Post by George387 »

Chaps am after your knowledge & Wisdom if I may, I recently purchased a 10ft 2" Milwards Fly rod which I was going to restore as a project, but my trotting rods got priority, the rod has no name on it & the only identifying marks are the Milwards stamp printed on the brass end cap. The rod is in reasonably good condition although not original whippings but the handle is a mess, from a quick investigation it seems it is some sort of hardwood covered in cork see pics:

I would love to know what the name of this rod is as I have turned up nothing in my findings and also if this handle can be removed and replaced with an all cork replacement instead of hardwood/cork.
Any advise greatly received as always.
Regards
George
