Gents,
whilst wandering through a local antiques shop I came across a split cane rod , Its a 12 foot Mordex competiton.
After I made a quick phone call to my rodbuilder to check it out I did a few tests with it to check if was okay. It seemed straight enough with no splits in it, the chrome rings have had it and the whippings and varnish will need replacing but the cork handle seems okay. The transfer is on the underside which would suggest its been re whipped maybe due to a set ?.
There is a slight wobble when the rod is put together but im told not to worry too much the brass ferrules are in tact and are not split so it should be okay.
so for 30 english pounds have I got something worth tittivating up to fish for roach with ?

Nice one! The majority of cane rods have the transfers, writing etc on the underside, so it probably hasn't been flipped.
