Had a punt on ebay and accidently won a Tookes 12' Special, split cane rod. Does anyone know anything about this make and model? If I keep winning on ebay I will be seriously thinking about selling all my carbon!!!

Tookes was a Fishing tackle shop in the Fulham Road, London. As a youngster I used to dream of owning one of the rods in the window, yours may have been one of them.

Found a tad of info that Tookes were supplied by Milbro. Could this be a Milbro with the name of the tackle shop written on??

I have had a Tookes special with the 2 tips since the mid 1960's, I bought it second-hand for £2.15.0. I fished regularly with it for over 20 years and still use it a couple of times a year, its been a great rod.

Hi there Jacko, welcome to the forum. So what's the biggest fish you've had on the Tookes? The reason I'm asking is so I have some idea of where to use it. I suspect they were made by Marco, the fittings and butt section are exactly the same as my Marco 'Test'. My Tookes is now in pieces waiting to be restored! But I hope to be using it by the end of the summer.

hi Big Fish, the biggest fish I have had on my Tookes special was a Tench approximately 4lb, I mainly used it for float fishing on still waters but occasionally used it on rivers. I hope you have fun refurbishing it and even more fun fishing with it.
