Does anyone know of any good barbel and/or chub stretches on the River Soar.

I don't know any good sections of it, unless it has changed over the years. I fished it for a couple of years in the 1980s and never caught so much as a minnow.

There are some really bad stretches MGs but I have had some nice roach and perch from the Soar over the years but never a barbel or any big chub. I have heard though that fair size barbel are now making an appearance but no ones willing to say where.

I know that stretch MGs, I must have been about 14 or 15 when I last fished there. I can't recall catching anything of any size there either.

I used to be registered and used it a lot, when I fished the Colne, Lodden and St Patricks Stream. Then they changed the format, meaning I couldn't log on and I never bothered re-registering. However, this will be of more use to Mark than me at present.

The forum rather degenerated and there was a lot of flaming etc so they started again and insisted everyone re-register and use their real names on the forum. It is a much friendlier place now.MGs wrote:I used to be registered and used it a lot, when I fished the Colne, Lodden and St Patricks Stream. Re: River Soar, Leicestershire
I probably wont re-register. There is no river fishing within 50 miles of home (unless it is for those silver spotty things).
Even then, my nearest chance of barbel is probably 120 miles away
