Those wood catapults?

Post by WildCarpFisher. »

I've looked through the threads but cannot find this one? Who or how to make a wood catapult. It was seeing Chris Ball made me think of it, and Chris Yates on film.

there was an exhibitor at the Norfolk Carp and Angling show a couple of weeks ago who were doing some lovely catties made of wood, but I can't remember the exhibitors name for the life of me

The most precious places in the English landscape are those secretive corners,
where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. (BB - Denys Watkins-Pitchford).

Make it yourself!

Terraband Gold is the best rubber used for catapults, You can attach to the sling or the pouch by winding very tight with a line.
Then you just need a nice branch fork and some leather.

If any of you gentlemen happens to frequent that very modern place known as Facebook I can point you to a group dedicated to catapult makers. There are some excellent hand made examples to be seen and some are for sale.

I'm on the look out for an old Milbro. Not really much use for fishing but nostalgic all the same.

That is the one I remember seeing and coveting in my local tackle shop :) Useless for fishing with, I thought then and still do. But a lovely little 'pult. I'll keep an eye on that one, Bluelabel, cheers. Though, I have to say, seeing some others on eBay they seem to command silly prices :( There are some very nice brass ones though. I do not recall seeing them before.

I do have a Barnett Black Widow. I will admit that my aim is not very good with it though... another one useless for fishing with :)
