Hi Bumble, am I right in thinking you own a Exalta? I know someone here does.

I'm looking to use one with 4-6lb line, although a spinning reel would anyone know if this advisable or maybe the reel a little too heavy for lighter lines and rod set up?

Tadpole yes I do and use 6lb line for my chub fishing and 8 on the other for Barbel.
Another you might want to consider is an ABU 444 fantastic little reel will try and find some pictures

I like the Abu 444 but I'm feeling all patriotic this year...must be the Olympics or something?

Yes I like the Exalta, is it too heavy for 4lb line?
