I just put a sneeky low bid on this rod and left it to go and wash up.

Not a rod I'd normally bid on as the pictures aren't clear and you can't even see the handle. Worth a gamble I thought though.

I didn't imagine I'd win it but now I have does anyone Have any Knowledge of what rod it might be?

I've just noticed that John65 has one similar.

Bargain for someone if the cane is sound. Mine was a bit of a mess when I got it but a new set of guides and a couple of coats of new varnish made it a user again, mine is a very light rod and a pleasure to use.

Did you keep to the same colour whippings? I've just been looking through AshbyCut's thread and saw he'd changed his to cream and blue (Looks really nice).

Kingfisher, no I didnt, I didnt like the multi colour whipping, I replaced mine with Garnet (Red Wine).
Did you win the rod.

I'm not too keen on the red and black. I might have a bit of a think about the colours. How does yours fish? Does it feel strong?

I paid £14.49 with postage.

Kingfisher, Sir ... yours looks similar to the one I picked up earlier today (whole cane butt/centre sections/split cane tip) which has two tone blue whippings ... a sort of Royal Blue mains with Sky Blue intermediates. The transfers look from a slightly different era, though.

The Martin James I restored earlier came with a vibrant Kingfisher Blue whipping (once I'd cut it off and looked underneath ... it looked black before I started).

I like the sounds of the vibrant Kingfisher blue....that sounds really fitting.

What I wanted to know really is will they hold a decent fish? Only I'll be fishing for cruscians and ocassionally hook a decent carp there.

Heres a few pics of mine now, it has a double splice, 1 in the middle section, spliced into narrower whole cane and a splt cane splied tip. I have used it for grayling and perch and it was ideal but i would say it had more to give, I would be happy to go for fish up to 5lb.

I get plagued by the bigger carp at times where I catch my cruscians...I don't want those big lumping things I'll leave those for SK.
