Ryan Burns 500 Avon

Post by Caneforme »

I have just bought this from Ryan Burns.

I have one of his 550 Carp rods which is a fantastic rod. The 500 Avon is it's smaller brother and looks almost identical.

First photo shows the 16.5 lb Carp I landed with the 550 the rest are of the 500.

Tight lines, John :)

Both lovely rods, chapmans were a quality cane builder…I have a couple of 500’s and 550’s and a very nice 10’6’ “Special” I presume it was a customer order?

No RBT, the 550 was a rod Ryan made many years ago for a gentleman who passed away. I bought it then took it to Ryan to have it rewhipped to match the Ryan Burns Kennet Perfection I owned and had bought new from him.
He then made the 500 Avon to match what I had got him to do to the 550. This was back in June of last year, when I found out that he had not sold it I phoned him up and asked to view it which is what I did today taking the cash with me just in case ;)

I have also bought a twin tipped Ryan Burns Grebe from his which he is just putting the finishing touches too.

John :)

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
