Does anyone know how the Octofloat tapers compare to the later Nufloats?

Long shot this....Does anyone know where I might get hold of an Edgar Sealey transfer for the butt section of my Octofloat which is undergoing refurbishment. I guess they are more scarce than rocking horse droppings but thought it was worth asking on here.

Broadly, I can help with these two types in higher definition.

Hi Tengisgol
I haven't tried to upload an image to a post on here, so here goes. This is the transfer on my old Ocofloat. If this doesn't work, alternatively, I can send the imageto you via an e-mail or a Whatsapp chat. Fingers crossed....Regards, Rob

I must be the proud owner of the only bad Octofloat in existence!

Crudely made, it is top-heavy, floppy and just feels wrong in the hand.
The whipping thread is probably thicker than D grade, and roughly finished.

Compared to my other general purpose rods such as the Sealey Floatcaster Deluxe, the Allcocks Lucky Strike and Wizard, the Millwards Floatcraft and even the Harold Greenway 'Spot-On", the Octofloat is the last rod I would choose.
Even the bag seems cheap, with no individual sections.

Is it simply a rod from the last days of production of this model, built to a budget?
Is it even worth refurbishing? Though that would be a shame, as it appears to have been little used .

A few photographs - your comments welcome!

That’s a later model, the quality may have dropped. The earlier Octofloat is a nice general purpose rod.

I could help with the top one ringed in red but not the bottom:

My advice would be to salvage what you have and not worry too much.

Tengisgol - That's v. good advice. I'll do that. Thank you for taking an interest. When the refurb is complete I will put a pic up on the TFF.
Many thanks again, Rob
