Piscator Publication

Post by The Sweetcorn Kid »

Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but I believe June we will see a new publication drop. Piscator, the brainchild of Richard Naylor, seems to have set quite a buzz around the angling community. Contributors announced so far are Maurice Pledger, Jon Berry and yours truly. Info has been trickling out of Facebook for a couple of weeks now. Quite excited to be picking up the pen again after so long away.

Thank you Stu for posting about this here.
I cannot take full credit for this venture- it is very much a team effort between myself, Ralph Riddler and Steve Ballard- and of course an incredible array of quality contributors, including those Stu mentioned and many more! As the greater majority of our contributors are from the world of traditional angling, and therefore hopefully of interest to readers of this forum, I shall proceed to announce them here as per our schedule for social media.

In essence, Piscator is an annual angling publication celebrating and uniting all styles of fishing through a carefully curated selection of stories, photographs and works of art. It will be a highly collectible item printed on quality materials. There will be no advertising at all, no hierarchy of species or sizes and no instructional content- just tales of the journey, experience, romance and enjoyment of angling!

I hope this appeals and look forward to bringing you more information over the coming weeks…
Richard

"The Piscator" is the title of the extant annual chronicle of an ancient English angling society.......
....and, I'm sure, of several others.

Frustrating though the similarity may be, there is a subtle difference. Ours is not ‘The Piscator’ implying ‘The Angler’ but ‘Piscator’ after the protagonist in Izaak Walton’s ‘The Compleat Angler’. Not that we were aware of any similar named publications when we set out…
Regardless of this, we truly believe our magazine will offer plenty of delight to all who love fishing of any kind.
