Andersons Fishermans' Guide
I am trying to get some info on a small but very interesting little book. It is a pocket size diary that was in an auction lot of Harry Powell of Sweets Tackle shop in Usk. It is in great condition and has amusing little ditties of advice for fishermen on each page, such as, 'How to make a minnow trap out of an empty whiskey bottle. Does anyone remember these diary's or have any info on them. I know they were supplied by Andersons Rubber Co. Ltd of London and Bristol and compiled by W.A. Hunter author. Hopefully my photos will attach and i will be grateful for any info.

Unfortunately I can't provide you with any information on that lovely booklet.
But I think, I should start fly fishing for salmon. As an onwer of a dog, that's quite open to biting at a human being, the odds are in my favour ...

Nice one. It is an absolutely amazing little book. I would snap them up if I could find any more.

Re: Andersons Fishermans' Guide
It really is a smasher and I have found some info on the company Andersons Rubber Co. Ltd of London and Bristol. They supplied rubber products such as waders to the fishing industry. I also found 3 books by the fellow who compiled it. He is W.A. Hunter and I have purchased 2 of the books, Fishermans Knots and Wrinkles and the Romance of Fish. If the reading is as pleasant as the diary I shall be well pleased.

I’ve been lucky enough to find these three at book fairs over the years….

I have 3 bottle traps - wine bottles with the raised hump in the base to collect the dregs!
Hump pierced to allow minnows in.

Wow Walkerburt, some finds. Obviously you will have read the diary. Only then can you fully appreciate it. Starting to look like it was only produced in 1937.
Hang on to that stuff mate. And Olly I just knew you would have the traps, read a lot of your posts! Thanks for taking the time guys
