Landing net poles

Post by EricW »

Good morning Gentlemen, :Hat:
I wonder if any of you can recommend a reliable source of whole bamboo suitable for making a 2 section, six foot landing net pole and what diameters and variety might be best. Thank you in advance.

I got mine from the local garden centre. They usually sell bundles of long canes. It took a bit of digging but I did manage to find a bundle with some of decent diameter. Enough to make 3 handles about 6' long. One of them has been in constant use for 10 years.

That's interesting, I thought maybe I'd need something much sturdier. I shall take look tomorrow and see what they have. Thank you MGs :Hat:

The canes I bought were about 8-9' long. I only managed to find 3 out of the bundle of about a dozen which were of the right diameter, for the required length. The rest are only good enough for use in the garden. OK if you grow beans and peas. If you are looking for a 2 piece you may find that easier, taking the lower pieces from a couple of canes. I was after single pieces 5-6' long.
