As Paul Cook is a TFF member, perhaps he could shed some light on the rod?

If my memory is correct Norman Agutters made the rods for Tom O Reilly.
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

O’Reilly did a review of the rod on norman-agutter.com

“I've always felt that a 10 foot MKIV rod lacked a little in versatility. It is a design classic for which its modern forerunners have a lot to thank it for. Yet for float and floater carp fishing I've felt it needed a little extra height to help whip the end tackle out…… (more)

Re: Tom o Reilly carp rod
I have a similar 11’ Agutters carp rod. It is a heavy thing to be honest, not the best feel really, and definitely very stepped up compared to any 10’ B James MKIV. It isn’t what you’d describe as a great rod but would probably pull your granny out the lake well enough.

Re: Tom o Reilly carp rod
I thought Barry Grantham built the blank and Paul did the rest . If i recall when i owned the rod there was a list of names written on the rod including Barry's, Paul cook's and Tom o'reilly.
Tom o’Reilly 2 piece carp rod built on a Barry Grantham blank - lined red agate rings throughout .. named “Death or Glory” refurbed and signed by Paul Cook .. 11ft 2 stepped up Mk4
