One Man's Passion for Carp - Norman Symonds by John Wilson

Post by Mark »

A bought a copy of 'One Man's Passion for Carp - Norman Symonds' by John Wilson on spec without knowing too much about it, it was only £14.00 new.

After a quick flick through tonight it does look rather interesting.

It seems a commonly held myth amongst some on the forum that far margin casting is de rigueur and frequently moan about it. :Scared:

I'd imagine that to be an interesting read Mark! NS was held in high regard in fisheries managment circles. It's a book I've heard about but never seen for sale. Good find I'd say :Hat:

Margin fishing on the opposite bank sounds to me like pole fishing, which personally I can find no liking for whatsoever. I still have the LERC flick tip 21' pole I used as a kid. I used it quite a lot on the Thames - it was useful at high tide below Teddington Lock, where the depth could be 17 or 18 feet. However, I have no desire to waggle a tiny bit of line with knicker elastic on the end of a long stick and take the stick to bits every time you need to get at the hook. At least mine is telescopic, which makes that part much easier, with no chance of stray sections rolling into the water.

I might be wrong but I don't think he meant using a pole, I would imagine he means casting to the opposite banks margin , as I say I could be wrong
