Don't know how to post a link to the new (I think) short film featuring Chris Yates. It's called Adidas Palace:Nature, and it's on you tube. He does sound a bit like he's away with the fairies, but I enjoyed it.

Thanks
BB

I'm still asking myself....what the heck was that? I sat down enjoying and expecting a little of that peaceful Mr Yates sort of thing and then that??!! When he hit the bell with that blow pipe I spilled my sip of beer all over the (...) table!

isn't it just an advert?

It’s an advert of sorts. However there are snippets of Yates’s wisdom peering through the promo film cloud. I have read and been told about the effortless accumulations and collections within his cottage and we certainly see those. I like the idea of mental, physical and coordinated ritual too. The film has been produced well which gives its identity away from the onset, but the message is a good one whether sponsored or not.

I found it quite peaceful to watch.
I guess that many of us have preconceptions of what the 'Chris Yates' image ought to be like and that he should always stay like that, but I see a lot of the real person here coming through; someone who has noticed the changes of getting older that creep up on you and becoming more appreciative of the little things that were never really noticed to the same extent before perhaps? but have become the only real and important values.
The appreciation of a particular old tree and what may be perceived as an almost childish ritual of going around it is something that I can relate to and something that you will only discover when the road in front is so short, compared to the one behind. Such things are incredibly difficult to convey to a younger person.
I have never met him, nor-sorry to say- read any of his previous books but feel that that which he may write now-about fishing or anything else-will be of far more value and worthy of my bookshelf space..

..Speaking of which; I think if that were me, I might be tempted to put one or two up ..
