Exalta problem

I've got a Hardy Exalta mk.2 which has a fault. The bail engages strongly when opened for casting but doesn't trip when winding in. If the trip is released manually the bail still doesn't close. Also when removing the spool the capstan nut and washers don't seperate from the spool as they do with an Altex. Is that normal?

The drag adjuster and spool are not meant to separate on the exalta. It helps prevent loss of parts when changing spools at the waters side.

The reel sounds as if it needs a bale spring or maybe just a service, let me know if you need it servicing.

Wal.

It probably does need a bail spring. Where are you situated, UK?
