Cases/pouches for centrepins

Post by Davyr »

I'm amazed by the apparent lack of choice in this area - there seems to be nothing other than gaudily-coloured JW Youngs pouches or neoprene jobs designed for fly reels. Surely there's a gap in the market for someone here?

I remember several forum members buying suede drawstring pouches on eBay some time back, but that source now appears to have dried up.

Any ideas, anyone? To fit a 4-4.5" reel, btw.

What about asking the nice lady that makes the rod bags

I'm sure they're very nice, Stu, but I just need a pouch rather than a box - something light but reasonably protective I can just chuck in my bag. I already have a suitable vintage (well, it wasn't vintage when I bought it in 1977) zipped case, but that already has another reel in it!

Loop, I don't think a soft bag is what I'm after either - just a circular version of one of those "D" shaped vintage reel cases that keep turning up on eBay...

Is there a story behind that, Loop? Or did they just become "surplus to requirements"?

No, sorry, John - those are the "D" shaped cases for fixed spool reels. I'm after round ones (preferably vintage) for centrepins.
