I am pretty sure we don't have any in W.Midlands & Warwickshire.

About 3 years ago I stopped to take a look over a small humped back bridge on the upper reaches of a chalk stream , not famed for its grayling. There laying in about 12 inches of Chrystal clear water was a grayling.
A few weeks later I met up with John Andrew’s and told him the story.
He was interested to visit the spot so along we went and to our surprise there was the grayling in exactly the same spot.
Location. The upper reaches of a Norfolk chalk stream beginning with N.

Na! Really?
A number of Norfolk rivers have been stocked over the years but few, if any, retain a sustainable population.

Narr can't be true! Lol.

I remember some 50 years ago me and my fishing mate used to visit Matlock bath in the winter, you could catch twenty or so in a few hours. Free stretch that ran parallel to the A6.

Not caught one since. Really must try to rectify that.

Throwing my tuppence worth into the ring, I'm unaware of any grayling in Sussex. I do, however, know of grayling in Kent (it's a long story...). Will be delighted if it turns out Sussex does have grayling fishing, though...

The upper Medway in Kent and Sussex used to hold Grayling because I've caught them at Ashurst (Kent) and near Withyham (Sussex). Admittedly, that was a few years ago and I'm not sure that they are still present.

The Western Rother (Sussex/Hampshire) has a good head of Grayling, I've caught them all along there but the best place I found was Durford mill which I think is on the Petersfield and district ticket. The stretches around Midhurst weren't bad either.

Talking of the Rother, a mate caught a Large Salmon from his back garden in Midhurst. If memory serves it was over twenty pounds......a fluke declared all the experts.

Just to shut these idiots up once and for all he went and caught a double figure sea trout from the same venue.

Grayling were also present because the so called Lady of the river loves nothing more than to scoff, no not pies, but eggs from the Redd's of trout, sea trout and Salmon.
