Top 10 Fish from Redmire

Post by Mark »

I was thinking the other day about the top ten fish caught at Redmire. The first two are the obvious ones but what about the other eight. Please note if a fish has been caught more than once it can only appear on the list at its heaviest weight.

I don’t have all the answers so I need your help on this one chaps.

1. 51lb 6oz Mirror - The Bishop - Chris Yates - June 1980
2. 44lb 0oz Common - Clarissa - Richard Walker - September 1952
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

From memory (stuck at work again!)

3) 43lb 12oz common caught by Yates in August 1972

Not sure of the order for the next ones, but

4) Pinky - 35lb mirror caught by Hilton in 1967, and again in 1972 at 36lb 10oz (?) as well as by others

5) 34lb common caught by Walker in 1954

6) 31lb 4oz mirror caught by Bob Richards in 1951

7) 31lb 4oz leather caught by Bob again in (I think) 1956

8) Nude leather caught by lots of people at around 30lb

Now I'm stuck!

Edit: does the 58lb fish netted by Walker count?

Top 10 fish, so not top 10 carp.

I bet some of the clonking Gudgeon caught at the pool must be nudging the record and are probably closer to the record (percentage wise) than most of the carp! Just playing devil's advocate.

Didn't Jack Hilton get a 40 from Redmire? From about 12" of water I seem to recall?

That was The Bishop and was caught just behind the car park. :thumb:

What about the 36lb common caught by Steve Broad during Redmire Forever?

Gents
I haven't got time to list them out in order but suggest you don't forget Eddie Price's fish

Eddies 40 was the first ever capture of The Bishop if my memory serves me right. I think, and I haven't got the book to hand, that his next biggest was a 26lb leather. Can someone with the book handy check for me please......
