Thanks...that's interesting as I have the green version (as above, but not mint), and the black version with salmon motif).

Fred J Taylor used Intrepid reels including the Continental and the Supreme, both of which feature in photos illustrating his books Angling in Earnest and Favourite Swims.

For those well into this topic..... on '' that site" is a right hand wind green one ,for the left handed angler.Note the cover plate with no fish motive relief. A variance not often spotted...Tony

The wire wool, Brasso and elbow grease seems to have worked...although there is still a very slight groove, line seems to pull through smoothly without catching.
