My first pin was an Avon Royal Supreme. It was a solid thing and I enjoyed using it catching roach, chub and bream on the trot and carp to mid doubles in a lake. But I was never totally satisfied with it, so I now have too many pins just like everybody else.

Kev D wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:41 pm The Avon Royal Supreme has features that a lot of far more prestigious reels lack. The outboard ratchet lever nestling conveniently next to the reel foot being one . No fumbling for that one with cold and wet hands.
And the adjustable drag lever is perfect for subtly preventing the drum from rotating when ledgering in a strong current.
Plus l caught my biggest freshwater fish on a G&Y ARS last Sunday !

Cracking “poike” well done :Hat:

I have a G & Y Big Piker which I have used very successfully for vane float fishing for pike. You can set the speed of the line flowing off the reel quite easily when drifting a bait.

I also have an Avon Gypsy, at 3" a small reel for light line under the tip work.

Love'm ,I have an Avon Royal which is yet to be used by myself and a Jecta lll which i took out on my first piking session of the season and managed a lovely 9.5 pounder on it, well chuffed to have succeeded.

I'm still on the look out for a good Royal Avon Supreme and I'll try and stop there.......try.

Regards

Martin

No prizes for guessing what I use my Jecta MK 3 for cosmectically not so good but spins forever and works perfectly.

I have fished only 3 times since Jan 1st due to flooding on the rivers and lakes I fish . I've spent more time messing about making floats than being bankside.

It can only get better :Thumb:

Fatty doth use this reel more than all the others. There are plenty nicer in his collection of 'pins but this is the ONE :

It scrubs up well and works despite being often covered in pie crumbs, tea slurps, caked on cakes, mud and stuff washed up on the river bank that smells of just what it is :Hat:

3lb Maxima, waggler and reed rod and we're good to go :Thumb:

As ever,......
