Black Roach pole - any info please?

The older I get, the more I love poles than rods....

I aquired this rather handsom black Roach pole, there are no makers marks or stamps anywhere on the pole; does anyone have any info about it please?.
It has a fantastic counter balance on the butt section which looks period. Does anyone know how I can replicate the black finish as I need to build a third section, I'm not stripping it as it would obviously lose its character, the whipping is superb. I just need to tidy it up, build a third section and use it.
I would appreciate any feedback please as its a mystery.

Thanks.

Don't those colours make you think of Bernard Sealey and Precision Rods? I wonder if they made poles?

Allcocks did, but it isn't in any of the Guides.

As Nobby observed, the colour and whipping combination immediately made me think of the Bernard Sealey range of rods. I hope this doesn't start Mal (Ashby Cut) on another Sealey search.

Regards,
John

Yes John, I thought that too.

There was a period of popularity for black painted rods, Lee, Allcocks etc I seem to remember even Aspindales made a black rod. Not sure of the time frame but it seems the fashion died out at some point.
