Fordingbridge

I see that there are 500 yards of Hampshire Avon available to a visitor at £2.50 (pensioner) for a day at Fordingbridge. Sandy balls has another short stretch nearby. I wonder if there is any other quiet reaches nearby that TFF members know about. I am not interested in the ‘honeypot’ venues like Britford.

Look up the "Fordbridge Avon" thread of 2018.

Christchurch and Ringwood both do day tickets on the Avon and Stour - ?? - I think as Corvid may have affected that.

Having seen the short film about Fordingbridge by Ray Walton, It looks like a really good place to go if you take a minimum of tackle and wander. Some of the stretches look great! :Hat:

I have sent a PM - I had a week at Bickton in October and can give you the lowdown as I know it, if that helps.

Sorry to come late to this post, but I would like to seek some information from anglers close to Fordingbridge or who know it well! My friend and I, and our wives, are due to go to Fordingbridge at the end of this month and we are staying at Burgate House Lodge (next to the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust) which, as far as I can make out, is around 3/4 mile or so upstream from the Town Bridge. We can fish from the grounds of the Lodge, so we are hoping it's reasonable fishing there! I would be grateful for some insight about the river here if possible, e.g. depth, flow, likely fish, good baits and tactics etc. and also wonder if wading is a good idea here! I have also read that the Recreation ground stretch could be a good alternative. Any help given will be much appreciated. :fishing1: Cheers, John
