I thought that Grice and Young reel owners might find this of interest.
I'm not sure how many reels are missing from the list though. The only one I know for certain is the "Jecta popular." I'm assuming that the "Crown" came later (??) There must be some early "Royal's" missing, in addition to the all the other reels that came before those with Roman numerals.

Reels were quite expensive, given that the average Monthly wage was about £70 for a man. Must have concentrated the mind when the nose was glued to the window! I wonder how many men justified buying a sea reel on the grounds that they would be feeding the family for free after this "small investment?"

My Orlando Minor was same price as Avon Supreme, hmmm.

There are a couple of pictures the Wirral ‘pin on the net. I found out about it as a result of picking up a Twynham (not on the above list) and discussing that here. As I’m from The Wirral, and it’s a long way from Christchurch, I’ve started looking for one ....... I still am!

Crowns/Royals were earlier, in the early 50s, Jecta popular from at least 1947!

Have a look at the catalogue at page bottom , page 5, this is from 1952.

Yes, that's more like it: those "averages" regarding wages are always way off.
