A fine brace
Spent a very pleasant few hours the other day near to Daventry float fishing worm and casters tight to the far bank trees.
As is usual for the canals around here I was the only angler in sight with just the boats, dog walkers and a lone canoeist for company.
I caught a few Bream up to around the 2lb mark and then this chap turned up!
A new personal best for me at 3lb 4 oz. finally beating my previous best of 2lb 14oz It’s a shame they lose their colouring in the muddy canal water but still a fine fish.
It was soon followed by another of 2lb 4oz making a very memorable brace.
I finished the day with eight Perch eight Bream and seven Roach with all but one needing the landing net.
Definitely worth a return visit!

Well done that man

Superb - a pair of two's and a PB - that's what I call a proper session! Very well done....
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

A very fine brace indeed. Well done..
Its hard to believe no one else fishes there, it looks really lovely and is obviously well stocked.

A cracking brace I think my local cut will be seeing a bit more of me this year. Most fish and fisheries thrive on neglect and I'm told that the 'Lanky' canal around Preston has a good head of tench these days....
