The rod and even the net Richard Walker used to capture Clarissa are well documented and there whereabouts are well known, but not the reel. What did he use? I have seen references to both Mitchell and Ambidex reels. So can we get a definitive answer as to what reel he used but more importantly what happened too it?

Hi John, as I said in our recent conversation, I am reliably informed the reel was a half bail Mitchell 300, which I believe you said was the only type available in 1952 anyway?

Great, Mitchell half bale. It would have to be a half bale because he caught the fish in 1952 and Hardy had the patent for the full bale arm until 1954. Does anyone know what happened to it?

Do we know what model of half-bale it is? I seem to remember reading that it was thought to be the second version, but cannot find the source now.
