Recently I fished the river Idle at the invitation of Pennine Lad, I had the opportunity to try his Milwards Floatmaster and thought how nice it was, well balanced with a delightful action.
From that moment on the rod was on my wanted list and following a tip off from Mark that a really good example was being offered on ebay I decided I was going to acquire it even if I had to pay over the odds. However as the auction drew to a close there were no other bidders and I won the rod at the start price, I couldn't believe my luck! I am particularly pleased there were no other bidders as I wouldn't want to have been competing with other forum members for the same rod.
So, I am now impatient to get my hands on it and hope its OK, there was only one photo but the questions I asked of the seller met with a positive response and given that Mark had cast his experienced eye over the photo I am cautiously optimistic

Well done Jeremy, the Floatmaster is indeed a very nice rod.

It's grand when you get a bargain from the biggest tackle shop in the world.

Wonder how many traditional street dealers finally went to the wall due to the internet, and how
this affected fishing in general?

One of my favourite rods, for a 12 footer it's very light and well balanced. I believe it's hollow built, light tip but with some grunt down below, great for tench....roll on the summer!

I sometimes worry if there are no other bidders incase I missed a subtle clue in the images or description.

I'm hopeful it will be a great rod . The anticipation of it should be a good experience so sorry if I spoilt that a bit .
One of the great things about that auction site though is the relative rasecof returning duffers.

Fingers crossed for you Jeremy, I have a 12ft Matchmaster which is a pleasure to use. Milwards make a lovely rod I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

If this is the one the tip looks to be short.

Look how close the tip ring is to the next ring down and how thick the cane is at the tip

Look how close the tip ring is to the next ring down and how thick the cane is at the tip

Glad to ay its not that one, in fact that looks like a completely different rod altogether!
