Octofloat Section Lengths

Yesterday was cold, wet, grey, miserable and so was I.
I wanted to go fishing but just could not muster the get up and go to.... well, get up and go!
So instead I decided to knock up a rod rack from some bits of Oak which I obtained form my daughters cot. I hasten to add that she was not in it at the time having progressed to a bed several years ago. My wife couldn't bear to part with it so it has been stored in my workshop and has been cannibalised several times to provide oak for various projects (with permission of course).
Having completed it I was placing the rods on the rack and noticed that the tip section of my Octofloat was slightly shorter than the butt and middle section by about two inches. Is this normal or do you think it has lost a bit off the top? The rod has been restored and looks lovely in the rack along with my other cane rods.
I have tried to find a specification for the rod on the forum and an internet search did not provide any relevant info either.
Look forward to receiving your comments with fingers crossed.
Jeremy.

I'll send you a pic when I have cleaned it up and varished it, it's a bit basic mind.
Do you think the loss of two inches off the top will affect it's action much Paul?

The action will have changed ( stiffer) but unless you had a full length version to compare it too how would you ever know? Unless it's particularly precious too you I wouldn't worry about it Jeremy. :Hat:

Measure the rod when put together, if it,s 11ft or more it,s OK . I had three Octofloats all had slightly shorter tip sections

If you're using a laptop or pc , right click on the picture and select view image the picture opens and it,s the right way.

It also gives you the option to zoom in.
