Octofloat Section Lengths

Yesterday was cold, wet, grey, miserable and so was I.
I wanted to go fishing but just could not muster the get up and go to.... well, get up and go!
So instead I decided to knock up a rod rack from some bits of Oak which I obtained form my daughters cot. I hasten to add that she was not in it at the time having progressed to a bed several years ago. My wife couldn't bear to part with it so it has been stored in my workshop and has been cannibalised several times to provide oak for various projects (with permission of course).
Having completed it I was placing the rods on the rack and noticed that the tip section of my Octofloat was slightly shorter than the butt and middle section by about two inches. Is this normal or do you think it has lost a bit off the top? The rod has been restored and looks lovely in the rack along with my other cane rods.
I have tried to find a specification for the rod on the forum and an internet search did not provide any relevant info either.
Look forward to receiving your comments with fingers crossed.
Jeremy.
