I have three old fly reels that I am looking at restoring, and all three have a wobble when turned.
Is there a general cause of this, and is it fixable or is it a case of 'once a wobble, always a wobble'?
Any tips would be much appreciated.
(Have I got the word 'wobble' in this post enough times?)
wobble is either spool flanges (deformed/bent) or spindle based (bent spindle ,worn grub screw if ones fitted) ,easiest to sort is a grub screw ,bent spool's needs care ,spindles are best replaced if they can be ,other wise its a juditious rap from a hammer to straiten them ,this is last resort though as chances are ,your going to make things worse .
I try to be funny... but sometimes I merely look it! Steve
