Good stretch, first timer on the Avon.

Planning a trip to the Avon, never fished there so some info will be nice.

I`m looking for a strech that`s good for a first timer, and will produce a good number of fish.
Planning on long trotting an a bit of flyfishing. :fishing1:

Wll be there in may.

Also a good B&B is needed.

Do you mean the Hampshire Avon? If so there are places to fly fish for trout. But no fishing the river for coarse fish which are chub, barbel, dace, roach, etc.

There are other Avon rivers in the UK. Warwickshire, Bristol, Devon, etc

For the coarse fishing I suspect that Britford would make an excellent destination. It is day ticket water. From Salisbury, if you head north and into the 'upper upper' reaches, or into the headwaters, I am sure you could find a day flyfishing as well if you are prepared to pay for it.

Brown Trout season on Hants Avon is 1st April to 15th Oct.
