New, old stock, unused Floatcaster De-Luxe

Post by Lucky Strike »

This week I found a very rare rod that I wanted to share with you.
It's a Sealey Floatcaster De-Luxe, still with the plastic wrapper and shop sticker
on the handle. It's a brand new old stock item that was found
in an attic - it had been there since the 60's in an old efgeeco rod case.
I've posted some pictures as I believe it to be one of the rarest and best
best examples around.

It's steelier than other floatcasters I've had, the ferrules are very tight in fact
they don't fully go in - although there is no rust on the male ferrule.
I could do with a bit of advice here, perhaps some fine wire wool and soap on
the male ferrule?
P.s I don't mean to gloat in any way, I just thought some Sealey fans on here
would like a look at the pics

If you can't show that off here, where could you? Great rod, nice one.

Hi Steve

Steer clear of any abrasives mate. A damp cloth on the male ferrule, dry with a clean dry cloth. As for the female try moistening a cotton bud with saliva, the enzymes help break down any crud. Use each end only once but repeat until the bud shows no signs of soiling. Finish with a dry bud. That should do it.

Lovely find well done :Hat:

Yes indeed, just a damp cloth on the ferrules at first, followed by meths and a cotton bud into the female sections if needed.

The very strongest abrasive you might ever need...and that not until the other avenues have been tried extensively, Brasso.

Someone one suggested that the horrible condition blue threads one usually sees on these rods looked like it was ultra-violet light damage...it looks as though he was right because that rod looks totally as good as the day it was finished in Redditch!
