Identifying Leney's
Hello all,
I'm a new member here, so firstly, hello.
I'm lucky enough to have access to a couple of old estate lakes in Shropshire. To my knowledge these have not been stocked with fish of any description in recent years, but are both home to some very reasonable carp.
This is from one of the lakes.
And this is from the other.
Any Leney experts out there, or any other suggestions as to the strain of the fish?
Also is there anyone I could ask who may know if these waters were stocked by the man himself?
Andy

I think there is a problem at tinypic end; what you are doing is correct.
I got the same effect.
I got the same effect.

Hi Andy no pics showing for me either! but regarding Leney stockings Chris Ball is your man as I believe he holds the original Donald Leney Surrey Trout Farm records. He is an occasional visitor on here and has helped me in the past and can be contacted through the pm system.
Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

Re: Identifying Leney's
Sorry about that - it did read a bit like a petulant child shouting "look at me, look at me!"
I think you'd have like them SK, as they were both caught on the magic golden grains. Top one was 17lb ish and the bottom one was 21lb. My question of origin stems from the fact that they were both caught from old (200yr+) estate lakes. The lakes have not been stocked, and the bottom lake has never been coarse fished until this year (how lucky am I!?). There has always been a rumour that the fish in the top lake were from Mr Leney, but no-one has any idea where the fish in the bottom lake came from.
If you ever find yourself in Shropshire, let me know and I'm sure I can arrange a visit.

Not sure where in Shropshire you are but carp were stocked by Donald Leney in the area and a lot of Shropshire carp were then stocked from descendants of these fish.
