Re: Sealey Rover
Not sure of the age or the test curve really Dave. Its a 'bendy' rod so its sort of a heavy float/Avon type designed to cover a range of methods and fish. It will respond well to a modest roach yet carry on bending to deal with tench, chub, barbel etc. With such a rod an exact test curve is, in my opinion, irrelevant as you can apply what force you need to a fish and if you get something bigger you can hold the rod a little lower and apply power from the butt.
I suggest you don't get embroiled in semantics, just go and use it.

Re: Sealey Rover
Totally agree with Dave on test curves etc, cane rods are totally different to carbon or glass which tend to lock up at a certain point. I think we make too much of rods these days, having a rod for every species or venue. Years ago they would just cut a foot off an old float rod and it became a carp rod.
I have a couple of Sealey catalogues but the earliest is 1968 and the only cane rod they were then offering was the Octofloat deluxe, there is no mention of the Rover so I think its got to be earlier in date than that.
Wal.

Re: Sealey Rover
I have a Sealey Price List for 1064 ... and the Rover was no longer listed then.
The only cane coarse rods listed were the Octofloat De Luxe, the Ledger (3 weights), the Nufloat, the Strikerite, and the Roach.
