Re: How shallow for tench?
Had this ol' boy in such a place on Saturday...pellet soaked in molasses and dead red maggot/casters as a bed of bait and a fake grub aligned on size 14...a flat quill and enjoy the afternoon. I don't usually use a net but given the average lady Tinca is 8lb on this lake he is an exceptional and, by the look of him, experienced ol'timer.

Lovely fella retired fellow , Londoner , who had returned to angling in retirement. He used the stick like a quill ... I think maybe the Tincas were obliging because they liked himNobby wrote:Hmmmmm....what accent did he have John?

...sounds like he knew a bit as a stick is probably better than the 'au natural' quills I get off the keepers at the zoo....especially fishing close and shallow.
