Forgot to say I sometimes slip a small piece of thin rig tubing over the knot and superglue in place.

That's great Bigfish.... If it's supple enough for a grinner that suits me, I have some of the Korda Crimps so I may try some of those as well... I wonder if shrink tube will work over the knots..... no reason why It shouldn't I suppose it works on Mono

A friend of mine uses shrink tube to make traces and he caught a 30+ pike from Chew a couple of years ago. Never used it myself though!

I abandoned the shrink tube - water was retained within it causing rust.

Using a shad/worm you can attach a 'flying treble' to the single hook by putting the trebles eye over the single and putting a piece of plastic (Fox red flag) on the single hook to prevent the treble coming off. Works on all shads/worms and the treble can be small (10) for a 2.5in worm or 2/0 for a 6in shad!

Do'nt overlook plastic worms with curly tails for your ultra-lite approach, they seem to be very selective for big perch and chub and it's very rare to be bothered by pike. Sink and draw with bottom bouncing works best around features, and motoroil colours work best. For smaller perch just trim the worm down by cutting of from the head. And if the water is coloured use fluorescent orange worms!
