I couldn't resist showing this little bird book for 2 reasons. C.R.P. Hodgson is Roger Hodgson the lead singer/guitarist/keyboards of Supertramp. I had an email from his sister who told me that the address is the school he attended and was written by his mum.
If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

A couple of belated contributions from my bookshelf..
Bill and Malcom were clearly good friends…
What a fine gift for that Christmas of 1933..
…But what intrigue is this!
I wonder… just who were Annie and Jeannie Stewart,
..the charming friends of the author?
-and what happy memories did their names evoke?

There are some lovely inscriptions above gents...
just read through them all again.
At last I had a bit of time on my hands today.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!

Re: Inscriptions in old Angling books
One of my prized possessions is a book written by one of my favourite authors and sent by his publisher to a another favourite author Bernard Venables…when I read it I imagined Bernard turning those same pages…
Interestingly it was published on 6th June 1958 exactly five years to the day before I was born….

No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.
