I don't know if these are any help, especially as my poor Record Breaker has lost a few inches. The 2 question marks indicate non original fittings due to the break , but
the other ring spacings seem original.

They were sold for a lot of years but strangely they don't turn up too often.
It has been said they are a upmarket Lucky Strike but I have never compared the two blanks so can't say for certain.

Wal.
For anyone interested, I finally got around to comparing the Lucky Strike and the Record Breaker. There is quite a difference in section sizes and therefore in power.
Here is a comparison of the cane section sizes. Measured across the flats at six inch intervals from the tip down. Sizes in mm.

Lucky Strike. Record Breaker.

Tip section.
2.5 2.8
3.0 3.0
3.3 3.8
3.6 4.5
4.2 4.7
4.5 5.0
5.2 5.5
5.3 5.7 just above male ferrule.

Mid section.
6.2 6.9 just below mid section ferrule.
6.6 7.3
6.8 7.8
7.2 8.3
7.6 8.5
8.0 8.8
8.2 9.2
8.7 9.5 just above male ferrule.

Butt section.
9.4 10.0 just below butt section ferrule.
9.7 10.5
10.3 10.9
10.7 11.5
11.0 12.0 just above handle shoulder.

Would these measurements be from my Lucky Strike by any chance.

Yes Steve, your Lucky Strike and the Record Breaker sizes came from Duckets rod. They were both in for work at the same time so I took the opportunity to get some sizes.

Sorry, I meant to add, the sizes are all rounded up to nearest 0.1mm.

Is that measured without varnish, Wal?
Thanks, Bobby

Sorry Bobby, yes they were both varnished when I measured them so you could maybe knock .4mm off the sizes.

I have an Allcocks Record Breaker. It was given to me about 15 years ago . Some of the whipping on the rings is scrappy and it is a few inches shorter than it should be. I've had plenty of use out of it but didn't realise until l joined this forum that they have a bit of a following.
So if anyone on the forum fancies a Lock Down project just Pm me . It cost me nothing so l am happy to pass it on for the same . Maybe just make a donation to site running costs. 🎣
